Tamil Nadu: ‘Doctor’ puts patient on drip, flees with Rs 2-lakh gold

CHENNAI: A man posing as a doctor rented a ‘clinic’ at Avadi and escaped with five sovereign gold jewellery from a woman patient. Police on Monday nabbed the man identified as Rihan Prabhu, 39, a resident of Thiruvottiyur.

Police said Veni, a resident of MES Road at Muthapudupet, recently gave an advertisement on an online marketplace to rent out a space to set up a clinic on her premises. Soon, Rihan Prabhu approached her showing interest. He told Veni that he had finished his MBBS and MD. Veni believed he was a genuine doctor and gave the room to him on rent. Rihan then started 'treating patients' from the room.
