LIV Golf star Talor Gooch has earned an eye-watering £6.4 million ($8m) in the space of just one week, after a landmark moment on the Saudi-funded series - he is the first player to win back-to-back events since it's inception.
Seven days on from winning in Adelaide, Gooch secured his second LIV win of the season in Singapore on Sunday, after seeing off Sergio Garcia in a play-off with the pair were tied on 17-under-par for the tournament. The American and Garcia matched each other shot-for-shot, after heading into Sunday's round tied at the top.
And after 54 holes the leading two required an extra hole to settle their differences, as Gooch bettered the Spanish's star par with a birdie to secure the title.
His Singapore victory was an historic one, as he became the first LIV golfer to win back-to-back events after prevailing in the first ever LIV event to be held in Australia, one week prior. Along with his two trophies also came two big payouts, having won the £3.6 million ($4m) on both occasions.
The win in Asia came with added significance though, as it also helped his Range Goats teammates secure the team title for the very first time, and a £2.4 million bonus split between Gooch, Harold Varner III, Thomas Pieters and captain Bubba Watson. Speaking about his form post-tournament, Gooch said: "You just try to bottle it up and make it last as long as possible.
"I know that I'm not going to continue playing this level of golf forever. So you just enjoy it while it comes and try to make it last as long as you can. And when it goes away you try to get back on the train as quickly as possible.
"So you try to savour these moments and try to feel these feelings and emotions and try to remember 'em so that when they go away you can really get back as quickly as possible." Clearly pleased to have his teammates alongside him on the top of the podium, the American star added: "Yeah, I mean, like I keep saying, we've been talking about being up there on the podium.
"I've been telling 'em how much how I'm going to spray 'em in the face with champagne for a long time now. We knew it was coming and it was only a matter of time. It's just cool. I was just saying to Thomas, you know, he isn't playing his best golf, but that's what makes this team so good I think is we don't have to all be firing on all cylinders to go out and win. Any one of us at any point in time can go win back-to-back out here."
