It's finally here!
No, not the Qatar 2022 World Cup but the Talking City preview of the World Cup! Host Dan Murphy is joined by resident Manchester City expert Joe Bray to take an in-depth look at this winter's (still taking some getting used to) tournament.
Things sadly have to begin with an unsavoury chat as it can't go unnoticed that the World Cup in Qatar is abhorrent in its conception due to the nation's treatment of migrant workers, LGBTQ+ people - in a country where it is illegal to be gay - and residents who dare question the ruling regime which casts a dark shadow on the tournament. Joe discusses the views of some LGBTQ+ City and Manchester United fans he has talked to ahead of the competition kicking off on Sunday when hosts Qatar take on Ecuador (4pm kick-off).
Then it's into the pair's general feelings of the unique and strange World Cup and a group-by-group analysis of the teams, the contenders and how City's 16 representatives will fair with Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Rodri, Aymeric Laporte and Manuel Akanji all being called up by their national sides.
Finally, the podcast concludes with each giving their predictions for the tournament. Who will win? Who will flop? Who will score the most? Where will England finish? All answered, all probably incorrectly!
