Takumi Minamino speaks out over Liverpool situation amid exit rumours

Takumi Minamino has admitted he is 'not satisfied' with his Liverpool career so far, but says he would 'love' to achieve something with the club.

The 27-year-old made the move to Merseyside from RB Salzburg in January 2020, but has failed to get up and running under Jurgen Klopp.

He was later loaned out to Premier League side Southampton for the second-half of the 2020/21 season and was linked with a move away from Anfield last month in the January transfer window.

Reports suggested he was eager to stay put and fight for his place in the team and he's already scored seven goals in his 19 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

"Playing for Liverpool was my childhood dream," the Japan international told LFC TV. "I am really happy to be here as the club's first Asian player.

"I would love to achieve something here and I am not satisfied with the result yet.

"Any achievements I make here could bring more chances for Asian players who may play at this club in the future.

"It will also give supporters a better impression of what an Asian player can do, shining for this club.

"I would love to contribute to the team more."

Minamino has previously spoken of the 'frustration' he feels with the lack of game time, but says he turns it into a positive with his attitude.

He added that he 'admires' Klopp's management skills, saying: "When I'm not playing in a match he always speaks to me and helps keep my motivation high.

"I want to play more games and I want to prove to myself that I can do much better, so I use my frustration to turn everything positive."
