Takeaways and highlights from first half as Ravens hold a 17-3 lead over Seahawks

The Ravens were looking to make a statement on Sunday, and through one half of football, the Baltimore defense has dominated a potent Seattle offense.

John Harbaugh’s team holds a 17-3 first-half lead after sacking Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith four times in the first half.

Baltimore holds an almost five-minute advantage in time of possession (17:48), and they’ve been efficient, going 2-3 in the red zone.

With the second half underway, here are takeaways from an exciting first half.

Ravens scoreless first quarter

Sunday marks the first time that Baltimore hasn’t scored in the first quarter this season. The Ravens had scored at least one touchdown in the first quarter in seven of their first eight games.

Gus Edwards logs another TD

Edwards had three touchdowns last week, and through one half against the Seahawks, he’s logged two more scores.

According to CBS Sports, Edwards had scored 5 touchdowns in his last 32 carries.

Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson was 12-16 passing, for 125 yards. He also had 8 carries for 61 yards in the first half.

Geno Smith

Smith was sacked four times in the first half, and finished 6-14 passing, for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Ravens pass catchers

Mark Andrews led all Ravens pass catches with 5 receptions for 50 yards on 5 targets. Odell Beckham has 3 catches for 36 yards, while rookie Zay Flowers has been held to 1 catch for 11 yards.

Geno Stone interception No. 6

Stone leads the NFL with six interceptions, and he’s on his way to breaking Ed Reed’s single season mark.

Minkah Fitzpatrick and C.J. Gardner-Johnson were among the league leaders last season and Stone has already reached that mark.

Odafe Oweh

Oweh had 1 tackle, 1 sack, 1 TFL, and 1 QB hit in the first half.

Keaton Mitchell

Mitchell had four carries for 37 yards (9.3 YPC) in the first half.

Seahawks pass catchers

DK Metcalf was shutout in the first half until he hauled in a 50-yard catch and run from Geno Smith.

Tyler Lockett had 3 catches for 32 yards, while rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 1 catch for 5 yards on two targets.
