Take-Two CEO reaffirms GTA 6 release date and says the wait is so long because Rockstar 'seek to do something that’s never been done before'

Grand Theft Auto VI.
  • Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 's release date
  • He says the game will launch on November 19
  • He adds that Rockstar is seeking to "do something that’s never been done before,"

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6's release date, so it seems like fans shouldn't worry about further delays.

Speaking in a street interview with the popular TikTok account The School of Hard Knocks (via GameSpot), Zelnick was asked about his business before touching on GTA 6.

When asked when the highly anticipated game will come out, the CEO reaffirmed that GTA 6 will launch on November 19 this year. But why is it taking so long to come out, 13 years after GTA 5 to be exact?

According to Zelnick, "The team at Rockstar really does seek to do something that’s never been done before. That’s really hard, and it takes a long time."

The CEO added that Take-Two earned $6.7 billion in revenue last year alone, and this year it's expected to hit $8 billion, likely due to GTA 6's upcoming release and its estimated sales of 25 million copies on day one.

He then offered some business advice, saying that people should "never compromise your integrity. It's the only thing you have," and they have to stick to their word "unquestionably."

"I have flaws. There was a time I acted in a way that wasn’t consistent with my views about integrity in business. It hurt me really badly, and I learned a powerful lesson. Never do that," Zelnick said.

He added, "I think everyone is looking for an overnight success. My experience is that the only overnight successes are someone else’s. Everything worth doing is hard and takes a long time," before offering some career advice.

"People should chase the intersection of what they’re good at and what they like to do with emphasis on what you’re good at," he said. "Do that thing and the world will probably open up to you."

Despite holding firm to the game's new release date following a six-month delay, Zelnick recently suggested that GTA 6 is more than a year behind schedule.

He also said marketing for the game will kick off soon, which could mean the long-awaited third trailer could finally drop sometime this summer.
