Szoboszlai Confirms Liverpool’s Interest in Milos Kerkez

Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai has seemingly confirmed the club’s interest in Bournemouth and Hungary left-back Milos Kerkez.

According to Istvan Salloi, a sporting director at Fehervar FC in Hungary, the Reds are seriously considering a move for the £50 million-rated defender.

Speaking on the Hungarian podcast Teljes Terjedelem, Salloi said that he had discussed the matter with Szoboszlai, who confirmed Liverpool’s interest in the highly-rated 21-year-old.

“[Kerkez] is in very good shape,” Salloi said. “[His signing] is absolutely on the table at Liverpool. The sporting director [Richard Hughes], who took him to England, is now at Liverpool.

“We also spoke with Dominik Szoboszlai about this, and he knows that Kerkez is in the picture and that their interest is real.”

A Battle for Kerkez’s Signature

Kerkez has impressed many since joining Bournemouth with his defensive solidity and attacking contributions down the left flank.

With his market value soaring to £50 million, both Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly keen on securing his services.

At Old Trafford, manager Ruben Amorim is thought to view Kerkez as an ideal fit for his evolving system.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kerkez is high on United’s shortlist as they plan to bolster their options for a 3-4-3 formation, which relies heavily on dynamic wing-backs.

Why Liverpool Are Interested

Liverpool currently have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as their primary left-back options.

However, Robertson has struggled for form this season and will be entering the final year of his contract next summer. Meanwhile, Tsimikas, who will turn 29 in 2025, is unlikely to be a long-term solution.

Kerkez, at just 21 years old, represents an ideal candidate for Liverpool’s philosophy of signing young, talented players capable of growing within Arne Slot’s system.

Also, Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, previously played a key role in bringing Kerkez to Bournemouth, which could give Liverpool an edge in negotiations.

Szoboszlai’s involvement in the rumours adds another layer of intrigue. The Hungarian midfielder could potentially serve as a key influence in convincing Kerkez to choose Anfield over Old Trafford.
