Syria’s rebels have recently made significant advances by capturing two towns along the road from Hama to Homs. The Military Operations Command, a coalition that initiated an offensive last week, announced that they have successfully taken control of the cities of Talbiseh and Al-Rastan in the northern Homs countryside.
Video footage, which has been geolocated by sources, confirms that rebel fighters have entered Rastan and Talbiseh, both situated on the main M5 highway connecting Hama to Homs. Talbiseh, located just 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Homs, holds strategic importance in the region.
In one of the videos, fighters can be seen driving through a roundabout in Talbiseh, jubilantly leaning out of their vehicles and firing their guns into the air in celebration of their recent territorial gains.
