Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal illness with a number of symptoms that can be easily dismissed. Some symptoms include weakness in the ankles or legs, muscle cramps or weight loss.
The fatal disease affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and six people per day die from it. It has no cure, reports Manchester Evening News.
A number of famous rugby players have bravely spoken about their diagnosis with MND, such as league player Rob Burrow and union sportsman Doddie Wier, who died from the illness last year.
