KOLKATA: Shahbaz Ahmed hit a blazing unbeaten century to help Bengal make a winning start by beating defending champions Punjab by four wickets in Group ‘A’ of Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) meet in Rajkot on Saturday.
Chasing a formidable 180 runs for victory, Bengal were looking down the barrel after being reduced to 10 for four inside the first four overs. But Shahbaz and skipper Sudip Gharami then orchestrated a turnaround by stitching together a 110-run fifth-wicket stand in just 60 deliveries to put Bengal on victory path.
