ICYMI, Sydney’s own Qudos Bank Arena is pulling a Taylor Swift and entering a brand new era.
The massive arena, home to the Sydney Kings and which has housed some of Australia’s biggest musical performances, including Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa, will now be known as Afterpay Arena. This name change is a part of a five-year sponsorship with the leading buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) platform but what does this actually mean for your next night out?
We’re answering your biggest questions and going through Afterpay Arena’s upcoming shows so you can feel confident that no matter how big or how soon the performance or live event, you won’t have to miss a moment.
How will this affect your night out?
So you’ve got tickets booked and you’re a little worried? Well, I’m here to tell you to stress less.
Good news: your ticket is still valid. If you’ve got a digital ticket, it’ll auto-update in the days after July 23 to show the new Afterpay Arena name, so you don’t need to lift a finger. If you’re holding onto an old-school printed ticket that still says Qudos Bank Arena, that’s still good for entry too. No reprint, no drama.
Haven’t locked in your night out yet? You can snag tickets with Afterpay, splitting the cost across four interest-free instalments because missing out on your favourite artist over the price tag isn’t the vibe.
If you have any issues with tickets, just head to the box office or check in with Ticketek as you usually would.
What’s actually changing?
First and foremost, the name is obviously changing, so when you think of the venue, remember it’s Afterpay Arena now.
The cashless arena will now accept Afterpay throughout the venue, meaning you can use the leading buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) platform for your food, beverage and merch needs.
Sounds like your Midnight Sun merch will burn a slightly less immediate hole in your pocket.
Beyond the new name, Afterpay Arena has had a major glow-up, with a revamped foyer, upgraded bars and hospitality spaces and refreshed signage throughout the venue. The changes are all about making the fan experience smoother from the moment people walk in, right through to the main event.

This will be a massive month for music lovers, with Conan Gray, Noah Kahan, Olivia Dean, Louis Tomlinson, Tame Impala and 5 Seconds of Summer all hitting the Afterpay Arena.
Oh, and don’t forget our divas Zara Larsson and Hilary Duff. I doubt you could get tickets, but if any millennials out there want a taste of nostalgia, Hilary’s shows are dripping in it.
