Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe have long been compared for their blonde bombshell image and Old Hollywood-inspired fashion, but a new genealogy discovery has revealed that the connection between the two actresses goes beyond their similar public images. According to new research from family-history platform MyHeritage, Sweeney and Monroe are ninth cousins once removed, making the two Hollywood stars distant relatives through a shared ancestor who lived more than three centuries ago.
The surprising connection was uncovered through the actresses' paternal family lines. Sweeney's side of the family is connected through her father, Steven Sweeney, while Monroe's connection comes through her biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford. Their family trees eventually meet through Ezra Perry, an early settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts, who lived in the 17th century.
