A man has been shot dead in Sydney's south-west in what police sources say is believed to be a gang-related incident.
Police from Liverpool City police area command found the man sitting inside a car with gunshot wounds at 4pm.
Despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene in Hertfordshire Street, Elizabeth Hills.
He was believed to be aged in his 20s, but police said he had not been formally identified.
The ABC understands it was believed to be a targeted attack.
A burnt out car found in the nearby suburb of Green Valley is believed to be connected to the shooting.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation has begun, police said.
