A teenager is fighting for life in hospital after being stabbed in south London on Monday.

Police launched an appeal on Thursday for information into the stabbing at a bus stop on Westwood Hill in Sydenham, which left an 18-year-old in a “critical but stable” condition.

Officers were called to the scene around 7.12pm, alongside paramedics, and found the victim suffering stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he remains.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area, and who has yet to speak with police, to come forward.

Detective Inspector Spencer Thomas said: “A young man was stabbed, and seriously injured, in broad daylight at a bus stop. I would urge anyone who witnessed this assault to contact us.

“I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the vicinity and has a dash cam to check the footage to see whether they captured something that could help our investigation.

“Any piece of information, whether you think it might be insignificant or not, could be vital."

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
