With three games falling victim to Storm Babet, including Glasgow City’s game against Montrose, it was a disrupted SWPL card yesterday afternoon.
Rangers took care of business in their league game against Celtic to move top of the table with Jo Potter’s side now six points clear of City who have that game in hand still to play. After their midweek disappointment to Brann in the UEFA Champions League, Leanne Ross’ side may well have welcomed the breather as they look to calibrate and go again after the international break.
In any case, Hibs made sure they banished the memory of last week’s 7-0 defeat at Ibrox as they inflicted a similarly hefty scoreline on Hamilton Accies. Robert Watson’s side are still looking for their first win of the season as they prop up the table and their 8-1 defeat will be a sore one to take.
Eilidh Adams claimed a hat-trick for Hibs while there were other goals too - Jorian Baucom claimed two while Shannon McGregor, Lia Tweedie and Rosie Livingstone chipped in as they emphatically got back to winning ways.
Elsewhere, Hearts beat Motherwell to move back into fourth spot. Katie Lockwood was the standout for Hearts after she netted twice in the 5-1 win. Carly Girasoli was also on the scoresheet and although Motherwell’s Amy Anderson volleyed a cracking goal for the visitors at one point to pull them back into it, Hearts upped the ante. Further goals followed from Lockwood, Jenna Penman and Eilidh Davies to give Eva Olid’s side the win.
Aberdeen’s game against Partick Thistle had to be postponed as did the game between Spartans and Dundee United. Pedro Martinez Losa’s side now take over as Scotland face a double header against The Netherlands in their Nations League campaign as domestic matters take a backseat for the next ten days.
