Swansea Tesco filling station closed after police incident

A petrol station in Swansea was temporarily closed after it was subject to a late-night break-in. The incident happened on Thursday night at the Tesco filling station in Nantyffin Road in Llansamlet.

Police were first called to the scene shortly before midnight on Thursday, and are now investigating the break-in. Tesco said on Friday morning that the filling station and shop were “temporarily closed” as investigations continued, while South Wales Police are trawling CCTV footage and asking for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “South Wales Police was called around 11.40pm last night (Thursday, June 16) following reports of a break-in at Tesco Extra filing station, Llansamlet. Enquiries, including CCTV, are ongoing. Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact South Wales Police via one of the below means quoting occurrence number 2200202305.” You can read more stories about Swansea here.

A spokesman for Tesco said on Friday morning: “The petrol filling station at our Llansamlet Extra store is temporarily closed. We’ll re-open it as soon as we can and apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.” The supermarket company later confirmed on Friday afternoon that the petrol station had reopened for pay at the pump transactions.
