Oko-Flex and Cundle roles revealed
Russell Martin has revealed details of the roles he expects new signings Luke Cundle and Armstrong Oko-Flex to have at the club.
Cundle and Oko-Flex joined on season-long loan deals from Wolves and West Ham respectively and are expected to be listed among the substitutes for Swansea's Championship clash with Stoke City on Wednesday night.
And Martin believes the Jack Army will enjoy watching Oko-Flex this term.
"He can play as a wing-back, we probably need to give him some work on that," revealed Martin. "He's an out and out winger really. His pace, he just wants to get at people and take people on.
"He'll get bums off seats I think and it's up to us to get him up to speed. He'll be great when we get him in really good condition, he'll be exciting.
"He can play the shape we played from the start at Middlesbrough, he can definitely help with that."
And on Cundle, the head coach commented: "He's more of an attacking one, but he can play deeper. He knows where the goal is, he's got a brilliant final pass and he's got pitch personality, so he's an exciting one.
"We've watched him for a long time. Gilly [Matt Gill] and I spoke to John Ruddy and a couple of coaches at Wolves, Matt Jackson, the loan manager there has been really keen to have a relationship with players at some point. Thankfully for us they've agreed to send him here."
Allen's Piroe hope and Stoke surprise
Joe Allen admits the Swansea dressing room have their fingers crossed that Joel Piroe will remain at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
Piroe has attracted interest from Watford following a fine debut campaign with the Swans last season. And Allen admits he has been able to fully appreciate the Dutchman's talents since joining the club in the summer.
"We've all got our fingers crossed that he'll still be here," said Allen.
"He's a brilliant player. Having played against him, I saw it, but to see it first hand in training every day, I instantly saw just how good a player he is and how important he is for us.
"It was great for him to get that first goal. No doubt he'll go on and get a load more. You saw his finishing quality last season and I'm looking forward to seeing more and more of it this season.!"
Wednesday night sees Allen return to his former club Stoke City. The Potters will be managed by Alex Neil for the first time following the departure of Michael O'Neill - who coached Allen at the bet365 Stadium.
And Allen admits he was surprised by the timing of the northern Irishman's departure from Staffordshire. "Yeah I was, very disappointed for Michael O'Neill," said Allen.
"He's a really good manager and a great person. You never like to see it. It's very disappointing but it's the nature of the game and the league. I'm shocked it happened so early in the season. Our focus is on preparing for what we're going to face, and the changes they'll make, if any.
"It's so early with the change in manager so we'll have to prepare for every eventuality."
Midfielder to leave
Dan Williams is expected to leave Swansea on loan before Thursday's transfer deadline.
The Welshman is yet to feature for the Swans this term having return to south Wales from his loan spell with Dundalk prematurely due to injury.
However, the midfielder is now close to agreeing a loan switch away from the club. It comes after Swansea added Luke Cundle to their ranks from Wolves.
