Swansea City transfer news as exciting Crystal Palace striker linked and boss refuses to rule out Wilfried Bony deal

These are your Swansea City headlines on Monday, December 12

Swans linked with Premier League striker

Swansea are among a host of clubs chasing exciting striker talent Malcolm Ebiowei.

Teenager Ebiowei currently plies his trade for top-flight club Crystal Palace. The Eagles signed the 19-year-old from Derby County in the summer and the Rams are now keen to bring him back to Pride Park on loan next month.

Hull City and Swansea are also said to be interested, say national reports, and with Ebiowei's former coach Liam Rosenior now in charge at the Tigers, it could be them in the box seat.

Ebiowei isn't getting the game-time he'd like at Selhurst Park, seeing minutes in just three Premier League games so far this term.

Swansea could do with another goal threat in their side, with current strikers Joel Piroe and Michael Obafemi not hitting the same heights as last season.

Boss refuses to rule out Bony deal

Newport County boss Graham Coughlan says there is always the possibility of Wilfried Bony signing for the Exiles.

Former Swans striker Bony has been training on and off with the League Two club for sometime in an effort to maintain fitness as he looks for a new club. He recently scored for County in a development match.

The 33-year-old was last with NEC Nijmegen for the final half of last season, although injury blighted his time in the Netherlands.

"Wilf is in the building, so in regards to the January transfer window, it wouldn't take any settling in. There is always a possibility," Coughlan told the BBC.

"We've offered Wilf the use of the training facilities and he has been different class, he's been a great lad, his knowledge, his experience around the place has been brilliant with the young lads.

"I've never really looked at it beyond that, we played him the other day because we thought it would benefit the young lads who got to play around him.

"You never say never in football and if Wilf was up for it and he wanted, we would certainly sit and talk to him. If he raised his fitness levels we could have that conversation, I am open to anything."

Allen: Great to be back

Joe Allen says he's delighted to be back among the Swans boys after his World Cup exploits with Wales. It didn't go as planned for Rob Page's men, and for Allen personally it was bittersweet, considering his injury problems in the build-up to the tournament.

Now back in the Swansea fold., Allen got 20 minutes off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Norwich City at the weekend. The 32-year-old hopes he can now get back into the domestic groove after such a frustrating period on the treatment table.

“It's been great to get back among the swing of things here and great to be back amongst the boys,” he said.

“Training has been great all week, which has been good. It’s been a long spell for me now without regular training or game time so the aim for me now is to be fully match fit, get more minutes and get out on the pitch and help the team get results.

“The timing of the games has fallen well for me – normally at this time it’s the complete opposite – so I’ve been lucky in a way because I’ll have a better chance to get the training in which I desperately need and it means I won’t miss out on too much game time hopefully.

“I’m looking forward to having a much bigger impact on the second half of the season.”
