Swansea City transfer news as £1.8m star 'in talks' with Swans and club tease Friday announcement

These are your Swansea City headlines on Thursday, June 15.

Swans 'in talks' with £1.8m international

Swansea and Watford are reportedly in talks with US international George Bello.

The left-back currently plies his trade in Germany with third-tier Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld.

He was once linked with Rangers but opted for a continental move. However, back-to-back relegations have seen the door open for Bello to leave. To get the latest Swans news sent straight to your inbox, sign up here.

He once cost £1.8million, the same publication report, but a clause in his contract could see him leave Germany for free this summer, they claim.

Championship rivals the Hornets as well as Dutch champions Feyenoord are looking at the left-back, who Swansea would see as a replacement for Ryan Manning, who is a free agent himself after his deal in SA1 expired.

Bello has been capped seven times for the USA national team.

Swans tease Friday announcement

Swansea have teased supporters with an announcement, with all being revealed at 10am on Friday.

Putting out a tweet with the club crest on it, it is likely to involve a change to the badge and next season's kits, with the short video showing flashes of colour referencing strips of yesteryear.

Over the course of the past couple of weeks, Swansea have announced new front-of-shirt, back-of-shirt and training kit sponsors.

And it appears fans won't have to wait too long to see what the new strips look like. The club also announced that the club shop will reopen tomorrow at the same time.

At the start of the month Swansea announced they had agreed a two-year extension with Joma to keep producing their kits. Andrea Morris, head of retail at Swansea City, said: “We are pleased to confirm an extension in our partnership with Joma and we’re looking forward to working with them for at least the next two seasons.

"Joma’s quality of work is evident in the playing kits, training wear and leisurewear that has been produced over the last seven years. Working with the club to provide this bespoke sportswear, they understand the importance of community, ensuring every step takes both players and fans into consideration.

"We are thrilled to work with a brand whose values align with our own and look forward to what the future holds for this partnership.”

When fixtures are announced

The new Championship season is just around the corner, and after another drama-filled campaign, fans are wondering who their team will come up against on the opening day.

The English Football League will get under way on the weekend of August 4-6 and the season opener will be televised on Friday, August 4.

With Premier League dates announced today, Swansea City supporters will be awaiting the new second-tier fixtures list with anticipation.

The full schedule of Championship fixtures will be released on Thursday, June 22, at 9am. Dates for all of the fixtures will be released at that time, as well as the schedule for League One and League Two.

Rodgers finalising Celtic staff

Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of a surprise return to Celtic - but it appears he won't be bringing with him his trusted No.2 Chris Davies.

Davies has accompanied Rodgers at Swansea, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City.

Rodgers, who was sacked by the Foxes in April ahead of their relegation from the Premier League, will be taking over from incoming Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou at Celtic Park - but it is who he will be bringing with him that will be of most interest to Swans supporters.

Talks are under way over the backroom team that will be put in place if and when Rodgers takes the job, with tactical guru Jack Lyons and performance coach Glen Driscoll identified as the two men he will be looking to bring in by the Scottish Sun. Celtic's current assistant coach John Kennedy could also stick around to work with the 50-year-old but has been targeted by Postecoglou to join him in north London.

However, it appears that there will be no place in Rodgers' plans for his former assistant Davies, who has been widely tipped as the frontrunner for the vacant Swansea job.
