Swansea City player ratings v Cardiff City as Grimes stands out with stellar display in derby triumph

STEVEN BENDA 8

More than comfortable with the ball at his feet given that Swansea dominated the ball with their numerical advantage and made a fine save to deny Tom Sang in the first-half. Clean sheet in a fine display.

NATHAN WOOD 8

Had a tasty battle with Callum O'Dowda and came out well, making some timely clearances too. Really good showing on the ball too. Confidence beyond his years.

HARRY DARLING 8

Made some important clearances and was generally good in possession. Took a no-nonsense approach when required. Fully deserved the chants from the home fans.

BEN CABANGO 8

Impressive in possession once again and made stacks of defensive interventions. Got forward so well and unlucky not to score with a fine effort in the second-half.

JOEL LATIBEAUDIERE 8

Caused plenty of problems on the right flank and helped Wood when it came to dealing with O'Dowda. Really fine showing at right wing-back. So much energy.

JAY FULTON 8

Typically slick on the ball in the middle of the park and added bite when required. Tackles helped break things up at times in what was another great showing.

MATT GRIMES - Star Man 9

As always, the captain saw plenty of the ball and always made the difference when it came to Swansea's best attacking play. Sublime assist for Michael Obafemi's second-half goal typified another excellent display from the midfielder. In the form of his career right now.

MATTY SORINOLA 8

Saw so much on the ball high up the pitch on the left flank and put in several teasing crosses. Very good showing from the loan man.

OLLIE COOPER 8

Plenty of energy, with his defensive work impressing. Took his goal - his third in four games - superbly well to make it 1-0 but was unable to make contact with a cross soon after. A derby hero for Swans fans.

LUKE CUNDLE 8

Great pass to tee up Michael Obafemi in the first-half and was always threatening in the final third. Looks so comfortable in tough situations. Earned his applause when subbed.

MICHAEL OBAFEMI 8

Spurned a great chance midway through the first-half but worked tirelessly from the front. Stung the palms of Ryan Allsop in the second-half but needlessly booked too. Got the goal his efforts warranted to make it 2-0, to his credit.

Subs

Olivier Ntcham (for Cundle) - Some really confident moments in possession as Swansea brimmed with confidence in the latter stages of the game. 7

Armstrong Oko-Flex (for Sorinola) - Too late to make an impact. N/A

Liam Cullen (for Obafemi) - As above. N/A

Cameron Congreve (for Cooper) - As with the other late subs. N/A
