Here’s your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Sunday, March 26.
Fulton’s rally cry ahead of derby day
Jay Fulton says Swansea City’s players need no reminders of the importance of the upcoming South Wales Derby with Cardiff City.
Swansea travel to the capital on April 1, having won the last three encounters between the two sides, and recently secured a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Bristol City.
The midfielder, who recently signed a new deal to keep him with the Swans until 2026, has played in four derby matches against the Bluebirds, and he insists the gravity of this fixture isn’t lost on him or his team-mates.
“I think it is a game that takes care of itself in terms of mentality, you don’t need to build it up because we know what is at stake and what it means,” he said.
“It’s a good game to be looking forward to after the international break.
“To be going into it on the back of the win over Bristol City is massive for us. Hopefully we can take a bit of confidence into that game.
“From there we want to be able to go on and finish the season well.”
O’Dowda a doubt for Bluebirds
Meanwhile, Cardiff City are sweating on what could be a significant injury blow ahead of the upcoming derby clash.
Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny has confirmed Callum O’Dowda has been ruled out of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier with France.
The Bluebirds man has pulled up with a suspected groin injury, and the decision to call up Robbie Brady has only emphasised the level of concern around his condition.
Confirming the news, Kenny said: “Callum O’Dowda has picked up a groin strain so Robbie Brady joined the squad last night.”
Fanning outlines Swans ambition
New scholar Jack Fanning says he’s determined to make the most of his opportunity at Swansea City.
The 16-year-old joined the Swans earlier in March, following a successful trial period in January, and made his debut for the under-18s as they drew 2-2 with Birmingham City at Landore.
"I've been to Swansea before, I'm really excited to get stuck in properly. I'm here and I'm really happy," said Fanning.
“With everything, it takes time to integrate, but I feel like the way Swansea play I can fit in quite easily," he said.
“It’s nearing the end of the season now, but I think that’s plenty of time for me to find my feet, get going and start showing some consistency.
“Hopefully, I can get a few 90-minute games under my belt before the end of the season.
“All I’ve got to do now is get my head down, keep up my education and, hopefully, I can break into the under-21s in the near future."
