Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Saturday, May 20.
Nathan Jones tipped for Swans
Swansea City could reportedly turn to Nathan Jones in their bid to replace outgoing boss Russell Martin. According to The Telegraph, Jones is "expected to emerge as a contender" to succeed Martin, who is now almost certain to be named as the new Southampton boss.
At the time of writing, the Saints are yet to make a formal approach for the Swans boss, but that situation is expected to change over the coming days, with Martin understood to have already decided on the move to St Mary's.
Attention will soon turn to Swansea's search for a successor, and Jones is one of the early names to have been mentioned in the conversation despite making little secret of his love for boyhood club, and bitter south Wales rivals, Cardiff City.
Jones took huge delight in beating Martin's Swans at the Swansea.com Stadium while in charge of Luton Town last term, and there is little question he would be a divisive appointment.
The 49-year-old is currently out of work, ironically after leaving Southampton, where he lost seven of his eight Premier League games, and has also been mentioned as a possible contender for the Cardiff job, following the departure of Sabri Lamouchi.
Hendrie 'doesn't see logic' in Martin move
Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie isn't convinced Russell Martin will be the man to take Southampton back to the Premier League. The former Aston Villa star was discussing the situation at St Mary's as part of Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday programme, and says Martin hasn't achieved enough with the Swans to be considered a viable candidate.
"I don't see the logic in it, I really don't," he said "Look, he has gone in to Swansea and what has he actually achieved there? I like Russell [Martin] and what he does, I like his style of play, he plays a lot of football and that is one thing I will say for him.
"But when you are finishing mid-table in the Championship, I just think that is a big, big ask for him to go in there. Listen, Southampton are going to have to have that bounce-back factor and to be honest I am not disputing that he has done decent things, but I don't think he's the manager that is going to take them back into the Premier League, I really don't."
Trio set to leave
Swansea City have confirmed that out-of-contract trio Joel Latibeaudiere, Kyle Naughton and Ryan Manning are currently set to leave the club this summer.
All three players will become free agents when their contracts expire in June, and there has not yet been any sign of a significant breakthrough in tying any of them down to an extended stay. Outgoing boss Russell Martin had been hopeful of keeping all three on board, but his imminent departure may well have complicated the picture.
Releasing their latest retained list ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Swans have also confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard, who will move on once his short-term deal expires. Full story here.
