Swansea City news as Bristol City suffer double injury blow and Cardiff City boss takes aim at Ben Cabango

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Thursday, October 27.

Bristol City facing double injury blow ahead of Swans visit

Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson says the Robins are facing a shortage of defensive options ahead of Saturday's clash with Swansea City.

The Robins host the Swans at Ashton Gate in front of the Sky Sports cameras in the lunchtime kick-off, with Russell Martin's side likely to still be on a high after Sunday's South Wales derby success.

And Pearson is facing something of a headache at the back, with both Kal Naismith and Tomas Kalas now set to miss out.

Naismith hasn’t played since picking up a calf injury against Coventry City on October 4, while Kalas hasn’t started a game since March as he bids to recover from a knee injury.

Speaking to Robins TV before Sunday’s game at Ashton Gate, Pearson stated that both centre-backs remain out for Saturday's game.

“I think it’s fair to say neither of them will be available for the weekend, which is unfortunate for us but somebody else gets a chance,” he said.

Hudson criticises Cabango reaction after red card

Cardiff City boss Mark Hudson insists he has no complaints over the Callum Robinson's red card in Sunday's South Wales derby, but says he was disappointed by the reaction of Swansea City defender Ben Cabango.

Robinson was dismissed after just seven minutes at the Swansea.com Stadium for appearing to throw the ball into the face of the Wales international.

It proved a decisive moment in the game as Swansea went on to claim a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Ollie Cooper and Michael Obafemi.

Hudson insists he doesn't disagree with the decision, but clearly wasn't impressed by Cabango's role in the incident.

"I don’t think someone should be holding their face," he said.

Asked whether he though the incident constituted violent conduct, he added: "I don’t think the decision is wrong. I just don’t think they should put their hands to their face.

"From what I saw he didn’t need to hold his face."

Liam Cullen on comeback trail and reveals Lati support

Swansea City striker Liam Cullen says he's ready to step up his recovery from a recent shoulder injury.

Cullen suffered a dislocated shoulder against QPR back in September, but recently made his return to the bench for the clash against Burnley, before coming on in the wins over Reading and Cardiff City.

The 23-year-old also made his first start since returning to fitness on Monday, helping the under-21s to a fourth consecutive home win against Millwall on Monday, slotting home the opening goal at Landore.

"It's been quite a while since I started a game since my shoulder injury. I've come back into training and I feel good," he said.

"The boys are doing so well, so it has been hard to get into the team. But it was nice to come down and get some well needed minutes and get back on the scoresheet.

"It's about building up my match sharpness now, getting back to full fitness and just pushing on for the rest of the season."

Cullen revealed he has sought advice from defender Joel Latibeaudiere during his recovery.

The former Man City starlet was also recently sidelined with a similar problem, before making an impressive return to first-team action himself.

"Recovery went really well, Joel [Latibeaudiere] did his shoulder as well, he talked me through it and helped me with a lot of it to get me back to it as quick as possible.

"I got back quicker than expected, so that's always a positive."
