Rodgers to Spurs could block Davies approach
Former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is now favourite for the Tottenham job - which could have ramifications for his former employers.
Spurs looked set to be closing in on Feyenoord boss Arne Slot but a statement made on Thursday morning by the Dutchman stated he wanted to remain with the club.
That has sent the north Londoners back to the drawing board, with the out-of-work Rodgers now leading bookmakers bet365's list to succeed Ryan Mason at the Tottenham Stadium.

Chris Davies, Rodgers' former coach and assistant at Swansea, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City is the new favourite to replace Russell Martin in SA1 (via BetVictor). But history would suggest Davies will follow the Northern Irishman to his next job, as he has done at Anfield, Parkhead and the King Power Stadium.
If Davies is indeed a credible target for Swansea, they will need to act fast.
Schumacher 'happy' at Pilgrims
Our colleagues at PlymouthLive report that Steven Schumacher, current second favourite for the Swansea job, is "happy" and settled on the south coast.
Swansea chiefs will be busy behind the scenes planning for life after Martin, who is set to be announced as new Southampton boss imminently.
Schumacher is the early frontrunner to succeed Martin in Landore having guided the Pilgrims to the League One title and promotion last season.
Their report states: "The 39-year-old narrowly missed out on guiding Argyle into the play-offs last year but, in his first full season in charge, he led the Pilgrims to promotion, pipping Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday to the League One title. Schumacher is certainly happy at Plymouth and has stated previously that he is in no rush to leave.
"His family are settled in the area, where he has been since following Ryan Lowe to the city in June 2019, and he certainly has the support of the board and the Green Army."
Current Swans odds
