Swanky city centre hotel bar is launching roast dinner for DOGS

The Refuge is set to launch its new spring menu, which features a brand new pet-friendly option. It’ll be serving up a special roast dinner for pets.

The swanky hotel bar and restaurant has become renowned for its Sunday roast platters in recent years. The platters, which serve two, feature the likes of grass-fed rump of Lancashire beef or half a roast Cumbrian chicken with thyme and salt roast potatoes, plus all the usual trimmings.

But now dog owners will be able to bring their pooches to the smart spot and treat them to a ‘dog roast bowl’ – a ‘mini roast with meat, veggies and a dash of gravy’.

Stephanie McIver, General Manager of The Refuge said: “The new menus at The Refuge are a fresh and inventive take on feasting and sharing with friends and family. We welcome anyone and everyone to our dining space and we expect the new additions will be highlights for all our guests this season.

“At The Refuge we extend our invitation to dogs which is a continuation of Kimpton Clocktower Hotel’s dog friendly policy, making all dogs welcome alongside their human guest counterparts and offering dogs their very own Sunday roast dinner.”

The hotel is becoming known for its dog-friendly policies. Last year, it introduced a dog-friendly weekend package for Bonfire Night, so that pets could take refuge from the fireworks.

It is now offering overnight stay packages, in which dogs get breakfast, and ‘a full pet setup in the room’, including a pet tuckbox, pet guide to the best dog-friendly places to visit in the city and, a toy and treats, all for free.

Meanwhile, for people, new spring menu dishes include the ‘RFC’ buttermilk fried chicken, hispi cabbage with soy and miso; mussel jungle curry, padrón peppers served with soy and crispy onions, whipped Kidderton Ash goat’s cheese, gochujang-glazed pork belly and a hearty red lentil and potato daal, with a feasting menu comprising some of the new plates at £35 per head.
