Swan Leisure has introduced an autism friendly hour at its two Dublin pools.
The gym chain announced on Instagram that they were making the change to be more inclusive towards their customer base. The autism friendly hour will come into effect on Thursdays from 5-6pm at their Crumlin location, while swimmers can enjoy the changes from 5.15-6.15pm each Friday in their Rathmines pool.
Several adjustments have been made in order to make both pools as accessible as possible for those with autism or additional needs. The premises will be dimmed during the autism friendly hour and music will be switched off.

Additionally, hair dryers will not be used during the fixed time period and unnecessary public announcements will be avoided by staff. Sensory maps will also be introduced in both locations, which will show visitors the layout of the premises ahead of their visit.
The health club will also provide ear plugs at reception for those who would like to minimise noise levels during their time at either pool. Swan Leisure also encourages people to come forward with any suggestions on how to make their facilities more inclusive.
Swan Leisure expanded its operations last summer with a new pool in Crumlin. The gym took over the former facilities of Crumlin Swimming Pool, located on Windmill Road.
