The owners of the Swan Centre in Rathmines have submitted plans to Dublin City Council for a large hotel to be developed above the shops.
The Anderson family, who own the Dublin 6 shopping centre, intend to create a 111-bedroom hotel by removing the glass roof of the Swan. The plans, according to the Irish Times, would see the building rise as high as six stories.
The proposal would require one retail unit on the ground floor of the centre to be turned into a hotel reception. The centre turned a vacant unit on its second floor this year into a shared area with several eateries, although plant based restaurant the Vegan Sandwich Co recently confirmed they were leaving their location in the food court.
