Sven-Goran Eriksson’s partner of 16 years broke down in tears on Friday morning at his funeral while touching his coffin in a final farewell.
Former dancer from Panama, Yaniseth Alcides, 54, had nursed ex-football English manager Eriksson until he passed away from pancreatic cancer aged 76 earlier this month.
She was in his hometown of Torsby, Sweden for his funeral where she was joined by a host of celebrities paying their respects, including David Beckham and Roy Hodgson.
Alcides joined the service wearing a black mourning coat, large sunglasses and a satin blouse.
She was comforted by fellow mourners and wept as she gently pressed her hand on the coffin carried into Fryksände Church, where hundreds of others had gathered for the 10am service.
It is located next to the picturesque Lake Fryken. Cose friends and family read eulogies.
The funeral procession featured a brass band playing Eriksson's favourite tunes, such as You’ll Never Walk Alone and Bare Necessities, as his coffin was carried to the Kollsberg Museum.
Alcides left the church, linking arms with Eriksson’s father Sven Eriksson and daughter Lina, both of whom she is known to have forged strong relationships with.
Ahead of the service, she was also joined by her son, who had been only five when she fell in love with Eriksson, according to a Daily Mail report.
It added that Eriksson and Alcides’ relationship lasted almost as long as Sven was married to his first wife Ann-Christine Pettersson.
And it had lasted longer than he spent with famous ex-lovers, including Nancy Dell'Olio, 63. Dell’Olio was also in attendance at the funeral.
