Sven-Goran Eriksson makes prediction about Erling Haaland at Man City

Former Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson believes that Erling Haaland can become one of the best footballers of all time - provided he stays at the club.

Haaland has enjoyed a remarkable start to life at City, scoring 20 goals in 14 matches in all competitions (15 in 10 in the Premier League) to make a mockery of those who thought he might not fit into a Pep Guardiola team.

That the 22-year-old - who City signed from Borussia Dortmund for £51m in the summer - failed to score or assist for the first time this season in City's 1-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday says an awful lot. The last time he failed to score - against Bournemouth in August - he went on an 11-game scoring streak, suggesting his goals tally for the season could be about to surge again.

Speaking to OLBG, Sven said that Haaland's start to the season has been no fluke and that he is sure to continue scoring.

"If he goes on like this, Erling Haaland will be the top scorer. Haaland is a great player, and is outstanding in the box," said Eriksson.

"He’s playing in the right team because the ball is always in the last third. They build up and keep the ball, so he will have so many opportunities and he’s taking them. He’s physically strong, quick, a good header of the ball and finisher too, he has everything.

"If he doesn’t lose his head, which is very important, and he doesn’t get bad injuries then I think he’ll be one of the greatest ever. Of course he won’t win a World Cup with Norway but he will win a lot of titles, especially if he stays at Manchester City."

After drawing a blank against Liverpool on Sunday Haaland will be looking to return to scoring ways against Brighton on Saturday before visiting former club Borussia Dortmund in a mouth-watering Champions League tie next week.
