Suspected drink driver 'taken off the road' after smashing into M56 barrier

A suspected drink driver smashed into a motorway barrier, before providing a breathalyser reading that was more than four times higher than the drink drive limit, traffic cops say.

Following the collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M56, the driver was breathalysed by police and provided a reading of 150 - more than four times higher than the legal limit of 35mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

The driver has since been 'taken off the roads', according to a spokesman for the traffic division of Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
