A suspected drink driver has been arrested and charged after police received multiple calls of a person driving on the wrong side of the M74 this morning.
The 52-year-old male was first spotted driving in the wrong direction on the motorway near Rutherglen, and quickly stopped by officers at Tradeston.
The man, who refused to provide a breath sample, was arrested and charged to appear at court on Friday, December 30 under the Road Traffic Act 1988 offence of dangerous driving.
A spokesman for Police Scotland told Lanarkshire Live: "Many thanks to the multiple members of the public for reporting this suspected drink driver going the wrong way on the M74 earlier today.
"Lanarkshire and Glasgow Road Policing safely stopped and arrested him with no injuries or damage.
"A 52-year-old male refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested, charged and held in custody to appear at court on December 30, 2022."
The driver also faces a charge of failing to provide a breath sample.
