A suspected bikie associate has been recaptured days after he escaped custody wearing only socks, shorts and handcuffs.

Isaac Thompson, 26, became the third person with bikie links in barely a month to escape Northern Territory authorities when he fled while being escorted to a hospital.

A three-day search ended when Thompson was located at a Darwin River residence about 12.30pm on Wednesday following a tip-off and arrested "without incident".

A 45-year-old man accused of assisting Thompson was also charged.

Thompson was a known associate of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang, police allege.

He escaped NT Corrections officers while handcuffed and wearing only shorts and socks as he was being escorted to Royal Darwin Hospital's emergency department on Sunday night.

Supplied CCTV allegedly captured Thompson in the Lyons area in Darwin's north about 11:30pm later that night.

Thompson approached members of the public asking for a lift at Lyons but they refused, police said.

Three days later a tip off led investigators to the Darwin River residence, about 60km from Lyons.

Thompson was charged with theft, escape from lawful custody and assault a worker offences.

The 45-year-old man was charged with aiding escape from lawful custody and breach of bail.

"Anyone who escapes lawful custody can expect a relentless police response," Detective Sergeant Jon Spencer said in a statement.

He added police were investigating any links between a recent spate of escapes, including whether those involved were getting help in evading police.

Thompson was set to appear in Darwin Local Court on Thursday.

He is the third person with bikie links to escape NT authorities recently.

A 31-year-old man - a "known associate of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang" - fled NT Corrections officers at Royal Darwin Hospital two weeks ago, lasting barely minutes on the run.

It came after an alleged Mongols member pulled off a dramatic courtroom escape that sparked a five-day man hunt.

The 44-year-old went on the run after jumping the dock and evading G4S private security guards at Darwin Local Court on June 5, fleeing on foot through the city's CBD.

He was tracked down almost a week later by a dog squad following a tip-off after fleeing into bushland south of Darwin.
