Suspect named as car abandoned in middle of The Strand after crash

Police have charged a woman after a crash on The Strand.

Police were called to New Quay, on The Strand in Liverpool City Centre on Monday, July 10, at around 6.40pm. At the scene, they found a BMW and a Renault had been involved in a crash.

North West Ambulance Service also attended but it has been confirmed there were no reports of any serious injuries. The Renault stopped in the middle of the three-lane carriageway with severe damage to its front.

While the second car, a black BMW, appears to have crashed through a traffic light and ended up stranded over a pavement. The car suffered major damage and a trail of debris was left in the road.

A woman has now been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis. She will appear in court on August, 7.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "Paige Thomas, 31, of Primula Drive, Liverpool, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis. She was bailed to appear in court on 7th August."

They previously reported: "We were called to a two car collision at the junction of Chapel Street and New Quay at 6.40pm last night, Monday 10th July involving a BMW and a Renault. There were no reports of any serious injuries.

"A 31 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road accident, failing to co-operate with a breath test and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. She is currently in custody."
