Suspect named after 'ramming police car and swallowing cocaine'

A suspect was named after he reportedly rammed a police car before swallowing suspected cocaine.

Officers became suspicious when they saw what they believed to be two separate drug deals taking place in the Walton and Bootle area on Saturday, April 29. Police then tried to stop a car in Bootle, but a 27-year-old man rammed into a police vehicle before swallowing a quantity of suspected cocaine.

He was arrested and remained in custody while "awaiting the passing of the drugs swallowed".

Police have now charged a man Joseph Redmond, 27, of Dewsbury Road in Anfield on drug offences.

"Officers sighted a male in two separate drug transactions in the Walton and Bootle area. Officers then attempted to stop the vehicle in Bootle where he then rammed a police carrier vehicle and swallowed a quantity of suspected cocaine.

"A male was subsequently arrested and has remained in custody awaiting the passing of the drugs swallowed. Joseph Redmond, 27, of Dewsbury Road, Anfield has now been charged and will remain in police custody until the drugs are recovered."
