In a shocking turn of events, a suspect accused of confessing to the killing of 42 women has managed to escape from police custody in Nairobi, Kenya. The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old man, was being held at a police station following the discovery of dismembered bodies in the capital city.

Authorities revealed that the suspect had been granted an additional seven days for investigation before facing formal charges. However, the suspect, along with 12 other inmates, successfully escaped by cutting through wire mesh in the cells and scaling the perimeter wall in the early hours of Tuesday.

The head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations expressed disappointment over the escape, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges the suspect was set to face. An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape.

The suspect was initially arrested in July after a gruesome discovery of 10 bodies and various body parts wrapped in plastic sacks in the Kware area of Nairobi. Police reported that the suspect had allegedly confessed to the murders of 42 women, including his wife. However, the suspect's lawyer has disputed these claims, stating that his client was coerced into confessing and maintains his innocence.

Additionally, two other suspects were apprehended after being found in possession of mobile phones belonging to some of the deceased women. They are scheduled to appear in court on August 26 for further proceedings related to the case.
