Authorities apprehended the suspect accused of shooting a Daytona police officer early Saturday morning.
The Daytona Beach Police Department announced Othal Wallace, who was involved in the attempted murder of Daytona police officer Jason Raynor last Wednesday, was captured at 5:00 a.m in a property near Atlanta, GA.
Wallace, 29, was hiding in a tree house in a property associated with a Black nationalist paramilitary organization called the No F-ing Around Coalition, DBPD Chief Jakari Young said in a press conference this morning.
“In the tree house with Wallace were also multiple flashbangs, rifle plates, body armor, two rifles, two handguns and several boxes of ammunition,” said Young. ”A large arsenal of weapons was also located in the main residence.”
Three other people were found on the property, but no details of their names or possible charges were released.
A DBPD member assigned to a U.S Marshall task force along with three other Daytona Beach officers were the ones who placed Wallace in handcuffs.
The U.S Marshall Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Georgia State Patrol, and Cobb County Police Department also contributed to the search.
Wallace had been at large since Wednesday night when police say he shot Officer Jason Raynor and fled from an apartment complex at 133 Kingston Ave. in Daytona Beach.
Young offered an update on officer Raynor, who he said is recovering and showing “positive signs of improvement.”
An investigation is ongoing, Young said.
