Susanna Reid replaced on ITV Good Morning Britain as Sunday edition set to return

Susanna Reid has been replaced on Good Morning Britain's edition tomorrow (Sunday) after it was confirmed the programme would return again this weekend. In a rare move, ITV last week chose to bring in its usual weekday presenters, including Susanna, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway, to hosts its news programme last weekend following the Queen's death.

Ahead of Her Majesty's state funeral on Monday (September 19), following four days of lying in state, it has been confirmed that GMB will return on Sunday, September 18, without Susanna as Kate stays at the helm alongside Adil Ray. The show will air from 6am to 9.30am before ITV's usual programming resumes.

GMB usually airs Monday to Friday between 6am and 9am but days after it was announced Queen Elizabeth II had died peacefully, aged 96, at Balmoral, the show returned to screens to continue rolling news coverage as well as share stories and tributes to the late monarch.

It comes after Kate was heavily praised for hosting the show solo last Sunday. The 55-year-old presenter took to the helm of the ITV news programme in the show's studio after spending previous days bringing updates from outside Buckingham Palace.

As the presenter alone, @ShellzJackson tweeted: "Chose Kate Garraway for Her Majesty’s final journey coverage. I feel like I’ve done the right thing. BBC is the norm, but I don’t feel I’ve don’t [sic] wrong choosing Kate." @Steadyeddie41 said: "What a moment and @kategarraway doing a fantastic job at covering events this morning. More of this please over the coming days." @Candyooke added: "#gmb Kate Garraway shows her professionalism on tv today. Her OB reports are so detailed and interesting a true professional."

On Friday, GMB shared the moving moment Susanna Reid accompanied her mum to see the Queen lie in state. Hundreds and thousands of people have spent hours waiting to pay their final respect to the late monarch. Kate and Ben told viewers how Susanna and her mother Sue had joined fellow mourners on Thursday evening as the late monarch's first full day lying in state came to an end.

GMB host Susanna, 51, also took to Twitter to speak about her and her mother's experience as they paid their respects to the late monarch as she lay in state. She described the 'historic' moment as 'majestic and peaceful' as she revealed she had joined mourners in the massive queues.

She wrote: "Evening - along with my lovely mum and her very good friend, I have just experienced a moment in history - witnessing the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall. At once majestic and peaceful.'

Susanna said she had waited for more than seven hours to see Her Majesty's coffin as she offered advice to others wanting to pay their respects.
