Susanna Reid blasts Matt Hancock after I'm A Celeb bosses let him keep phone and laptop

Susanna Reid has hit out at Matt Hancock for breaking I'm A Celebrity rules before even entering the jungle.

According to reports, the former Health Secretary has been allowed to keep his phone and laptop so he can continue to work during his ‘quarantine’ time.

On Good Morning Britain today, the presenters were discussing Mr Hancock’s appearance on the ITV show and Susanna said: “I think a lot of people last night were wondering, where’s Matt Hancock?”

And her co-host Ed Balls replied: “I know he’s in quarantine, apparently on his phone," to which a shocked Susanna replied: “That’s not allowed! I know, I think that’s going to do down quite badly in the camp."

Susanna added: "Well the fact he’s in there has gone down quite badly with the Prime Minister. Following the news of his stint in the jungle, Hancock lost his Tory whip last week. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said he is ‘very disappointed’ with his decision, adding he won’t be watching the ITV show as he ‘genuinely won’t have time’.

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also branded him 'disgraceful', she said: "I think it's disgraceful actually, I'm not particularly interested in how he gets on in the jungle." The politician is set to be one of two late arrivals to the camp, but when exactly he will enter camp remains unclear.

Hancock will join the line-up of celebs such as royal Mike Tindall, singer Boy George, radio’s Chris Moyles, Coronation Street ’s Sue Cleaver, ITV’s Charlene White, Love Island ’s Olivia Attwood and Hollyoaks star Owen Warner. A Place In The Sun host Scarlette Douglas, rising comedian Babatunde Aleshe and Lioness Jill Scott.

Comedian Seann Walsh is said to be other celebrity who will have a late entrance to the jungle. Ahead of their arrival into the jungle, celebs are usually cut from contact to the outside world and have their devices taken away, unless there is exceptional circumstances.

The MP is said to have made a deal with ITV bosses to allow him to keep his phone and laptop so he can continue to work and speak to his personal advisor on Zoom calls.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Matt has been given a different arrangement during his isolation period to the other contestants. He has been allowed his phone and laptop so that he can carry on working and keep in touch with constituents.”
