Survey launches on future of two council owned Castle Douglas leisure facilities

People in Castle Douglas are being asked for their thoughts on the future of two council owned leisure facilities.

The town’s development forum is currently looking into taking over both Lochside Caravan Park and Carlingwark Outdoor Activity Centre.

And it has now launched a new survey to let people say what facilities they would like to see at both sites.

The outdoor centre has been shut since 2019 as a result of council cuts. The development forum want to turn it into an “eco-friendly family activity centre”.

Possible features mentioned in the survey include water sports, a recording studio, free talks and cooking classes.

The caravan site is currently operated by the council but the forum would like to turn it into a “desirable tourist destination and provider of local amenities.”.

Possible improvements could be a games room, barbecue areas and a small shop.

The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NRPTHPT
