Surfing finals day put on hold again at Bells Beach

Men's world No.1 Griffin Colapinto will have to wait another day to compete for Bells Beach glory. (HANDOUT/WORLD SURF LEAGUE)

Surfing at Bells Beach is on hold for a second-straight day with organisers hoping to hold the finals on Wednesday.

There are no Australians left in the men's or women's competitions at the Rip Curl Pro.

"As expected, the surf is still quite small today at Bells Beach," said World Surf League official Renato Hickel.

"We are confident that it will pick up today and into tomorrow, and with light winds in the morning, we are hoping to resume with finals day as early as tomorrow."

There will be two first-time winners at Bells Beach, with American world No.1 Griffin Colapinto taking on Rio Waida from Indonesia in one semi-final.

The other men's semi features South African Matthew McGillivray against American Cole Houshmand - neither surfer has made a championship tour final.

Johanne Defray of France is up against Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy and the other women's semi-final is an all-American affair between Caroline Marks and Caitlin Simmers.

Meanwhile, Bells Beach has been confirmed as a championship tour event for the next four years.

It is surfing's longest-running professional surfing competition, starting in 1961.
