Surfers wait for waves at season-opening Pipe Pro

The start of the World Surf League season is on hold for at least two days due to poor conditions at Hawaii's Banzai Pipeline.

The Pipe Pro, first stop on the 11-event tour, was set to get under way on the North Shore of O'ahu, but organisers pushed back opening heats as they wait for better waves.

"We are going to be off for today, and we're also going to be off for tomorrow. Not the nicest day, and we know we are going to get some better conditions in the window," said WSL commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer.
