Supreme Court to hear wife of slain IAS officer’s plea on May 8

IAS Anand Mohan G Krishnaiah the Supreme Court Gopalganj Murder Prison

The Supreme Court on May 1 agreed to hear on May 8 a petition filed by the widow of murdered Gopalganj District Magistrate and IAS officer G. Krishnaiah challenging a tweak in the Bihar prison law which facilitated the premature release of former Bihar MP and gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing Krishnaiah in 1994.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud fixed the date after an urgent mentioning made by Uma Krishnaiah.

Mohan was released from Saharsa prison on April 27.
