Supreme Court Reserves Verdict on Pleas Seeking Changes to Stray Dogs Case

The verdict was reserved after the apex court concluded hearings involving stakeholders from across the country. The matter saw extensive arguments from multiple sides, reflecting the complexity and sensitivity of the issue.

Submissions were made by dog lovers and animal rights activists, who emphasized humane treatment and protection of stray animals. At the same time, victims of dog bite incidents highlighted concerns over public safety and the growing number of attacks.

The court also heard arguments from lawyers representing the Centre and various state governments, who outlined administrative challenges and existing policies for managing the stray dog population.

With all sides heard, the Supreme Court has now reserved its judgment, which is expected to provide clarity on how the balance between animal welfare and public safety should be addressed going forward.
