People have voiced their support for plans to fine people for getting too close to deer at Wollaton Park. Plans were recently announced that a fixed penalty notice could be handed to visitors at Wollaton Park who got within 'close proximity' to the deer.
It is advised that individuals stay at least 50m away from deer at the 500 acre park, but numerous visitors have still been getting too close. It is hoped that the fines - if introduced - will act as a deterrent to ensure people keep their distance.
Readers have shared their thoughts on social media, with many people in agreement that fixed penalty notices are a good idea. One reader stated: "I love wildlife and these animals are beautiful however I like my life too much to risk even being bit by one let alone rammed, so trust me I’ll keep my distance and enjoy them from where I am."

A second wrote: "They should. Animals deserve respect. It's always them that suffer." A third added: "Good about time I’ve seen people dogs far too close to them and if they turn it’s the deer that’s shot."
Another commented: "Good because the last one that attacked someone in matting season got put down....it was not its fault they should have kept them in a penned-off area where people can't get close."
One reader shared their own experience about the deers. They wrote: "When I was a kid I got chased by a deer. Yes, I was an idiot and I know they can do a lot of damage if they choose if they think fining people who gets too close is gonna keep them safe then so be it."
However, not everyone was pleased with the possibility of fines. One user wrote: "So Wollaton Park are asking people to stay away from the stags and deers but the animals are that use to humans, they approach the people.
Another commented: "Fencing up to keep the deer safely out of the way of stupid irresponsible bloody humans - God give me strength - human brains are deteriorating at a rapid rate."
