Supermarkets are doing their part to help with the rising cost of living by sharing meal deals, recipes and shopping lists. Some will stretch over a week of meals while others will take the pressure off making a midweek decision.
Meal planning can be exhausting at the best of times but some stores have taken the pressure off by creating tailored shopping lists. These send you out with instructions on what to buy, so there’s no mindlessly staring at the shelves and praying for inspiration of what you’re going to eat for the week.

Asda
Asda has created seven simple recipes for budget-conscious families that can feed a family of four for less than £20 with its essentials range. The yellow-packaged products caused quite a stir when they were first introduced but have since proved a hit for their price and quality.
The meal deal promises to provide the ingredients to prepare sausage and mash, fish biryani, fish pie, frittata, tuna pasta, chicken stew and rice, and chicken pasta. The items, which come in at less than £20, will make enough of each meal to feed a family of four.

A fuss-free Sunday lunch or a midweek chicken dinner is covered thanks to Marks & Spencer’s newest meal. Customers can pick up one main - the options include spatchcock chicken, whole chicken and rotisserie chicken - and two sides - the options here include chips, mash, roasties, vegetables and gravy - for just £10.
Aldi
While not an official deal, Instagram influencer Cardiff Mum shared five meals she made with ingredients bought from Aldi for less than £20. Using Aldi-exclusive products, the content creator made slow cooker pulled pork and black bean chilli, Italian BMT subs, air fryer Chinese crispy shredded chicken, air fryer lemon, garlic chicken with crispy feta and sloppy joe tacos and dirty rice.
