Supercomputer predicts Arsenal and Man City Premier League title race finish amid Liverpool draw

Arsenal were dealt a major blow in the Premier League title race as Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the table down to just six points. The two sides still have to face each other at the Etihad Stadium later this month along with a number of other tough tests along the way.

The Gunners are chasing down a first title since 2004 with Mikel Arteta looking to follow in Arsene Wenger's footsteps and win the Premier League. Pep Guardiola is hoping to lead his City side to a fifth title in six years, with Liverpool being the only team to beat the Manchester outfit to the title in that time.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus gave the Gunners a 2-0 lead at Anfield before the Reds came back to snatch a draw in the final minutes of the game. Arteta is still facing a number of injury concerns, with William Saliba yet to return from a back injury heading into their final eight games of the season.

After the thrilling 2-2 draw with Liverpool, Arsenal are still projected to win the title but their room for error has decreased drastically as BETSiE's projected table has the Gunners winning the title over Man City by 1.2 points. The north London outfit are predicted to win four of their remaining eight fixtures, drawing two and losing two.

It could prove to be yet another title race that goes down to the final game of the season. City beat Liverpool to the title on the final day last term, beating Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium - but BETSiE's projected table suggests Arsenal will get the better of Pep Guardiola's side this season.

The Gunners have a 54.2% chance of winning the league, compared to City's 45.8% chance. As for the rest of the top four, Newcastle have a projected 93.6% chance of securing Champions League football, whilst Manchester United have an 84.7% chance.

Despite the draw against Arsenal, Liverpool are still tipped to finish seventh, behind Brighton. With Frank Lampard as interim manager, Chelsea suffered a 2-0 loss against Wolves and are projected to be in a close battle for the 10th spot with west London rivals Fulham.

The losses are adding up for Leicester City and the 2015-16 Premier League winners are now tipped for relegation alongside Nottingham Forest and Southampton.
