The International Centre for Sports Studies has predicted Newcastle United to finish 10th place in the Premier League at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The CIES Football Observatory’s predictions are carried out from a statistical model, including teams’ performances over the previous two seasons, current players’ experience capital and clubs’ transfer market expenditure.
Their prediction will come as a surprise for many after Newcastle have collected five points from their opening three games (W1 D2) and are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League.
Surprisingly, West Ham United (who are yet to register a single point) and Leicester City (who have recorded just one point) are forecast to finish above the Magpies.
CIES have predicted Manchester City to win the Premier League for the third successive season, while Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur respectively make up the rest of the top four.
