Developer Metalhead published a deep dive into Super Mega Baseball 4’s Legends, famous athletes from the past you can build teams with. Studio co-founder Scott Drader previously spoke with GLHF about the challenge of adding recognizable figures in the game when the team wants it to feel timeless, and now, we’re getting a glimpse at what role these historical figures will play in the sports game.
Super Mega Baseball 4 features 240 playable Legends right off the bat, including:
- David Ortiz
- Vladimir Guerrero
- Billy Wagner
- Bartolo Colon
- Jose Bautista
- Mike Mussina
- George Brett
- Babe Ruth
- Willie Mays
- Rollie Fingers
- Ozzie Smith
- Hank Aaron
You can play as Legends in Super Mega League alongside your own player creations or dive into the Legends League, where SMB4 lets you pit classic stars and more recent celebrities together in the Old School and New School Conferences, each with their own teams.
In keeping with Metalhead’s philosophy of flexibility, you’re not just restricted to using Legends in these modes, either. You can use a Legends team in season mode, customize a Legends team as you see fit, or use the shuffle deck feature to make a blended team of personalized and Legends players for use in franchise, online, and season modes.
Finally, Metalhead is adding Legends to pennant race mode, replacing players on Super Mega teams each week with the all-stars both for fun and in a bid to help keep teams balanced.
Super Mega Baseball 4 launches in partnership with EA Sports for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 2, 2023.
