K-pop sensation Super Junior recently launched their album The Road: Celebration, and the group will appear in Disney+ Hotstar's new documentary Super Junior: The Last Man Standing to be released on Jan 18.
The Road: Celebration
Even though Super Junior is well known for their catchy dance songs with captivating choreography, The Road: Celebration does not include any such numbers. Instead, the album features five downtempo songs about love, happiness and loneliness, although lyrics aren't especially deep and meaningful or difficult to interpret.
White Love is a remake of a song by 90s group Turbo and here one of the best tracks with its retro sound and smooth vocal harmonies by Super Junior's nine members. Another top track, If Only You, is sung by the group's three main vocalists Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung. The trio's different vocal sounds and styles blend well.
In December, The Road: Celebration was ranked No.1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in 20 countries including Thailand, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
Super Junior: The Last Man Standing
Super Junior is one of the few K-pop groups to successfully build an international fan base. In 2012, they were the first K-pop act to have a solo concert in Paris, France. This documentary on Disney+ Hotstar will bring viewers back to the early days of Super Junior in 2005 when the group consisted of 13 members. During interviews the current members talk about their past, present and future.
The trailer for Super Junior: The Last Man Standing suggests the group's current line-up doesn't want to talk about members who left the group, yet the documentary is still interesting as it shows how Super Junior has survived in this short-lived business for more than a decade.
