Jalen Hurts' road to superstardom in the NFL hasn't been a typical one, having been passed over at numerous points of his career and benched in embarrassing circumstances.
But the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has proved his worth and cemented his status as one of the best in the game, no wonder there's speculation he could become the highest earner in NFL history.
Hurts was a second-round selection in the 2020 draft, and few believed he'd ever reach the heights he has now. The quarterback is entering into a contract year after the Super Bowl, and will earn just $4million - 10% of what Mahomes will make in the same year. However, Spotrac has his market value at $44.2m per season, meaning he could realistically ask for a huge new deal this summer or wait and hit free agency next year.
Hurts keeps his personal life fairly private, and made one of his first public appearances with his girlfriend after the NFC Championship game. His girlfriend, tagged by Getty Images as Bry Burrows, was seen on the field with Hurts after the win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The couple apparently met at the University of Alabama, where Hurts played as quarterback under Nick Saban. He later transferred to the University of Oklahoma.
According to Insider magazine, Burrows has worked at IBM for the past three years, having graduated from Alabama with an MBA and a double-major in Spanish.
While Hurts currently has a fairly small net worth, he will apparently work with the Eagles this summer to secure a new contract that could be worth up to $200m.
Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie told ESPN: "I don't think he has anything to prove [to be the long-term answer at quarterback]. He is an MVP-caliber quarterback, an incredible leader of the team on the field, off the field.
"He's 24 years old, incredibly mature and, most importantly, driven to be even better. What we're seeing today I think is just the beginning for Jalen. This guy will attack every weakness as he has since high school, since college. The future is bright and very exciting for all of us."
